Liara T'soni from Mass Effect. personally, I prefered Samara, but hey... Liara plays a larger role overall so I gues sshe is the asari of choice... for now >
So after I painted garrus, a bunch of mates from uni started asking me to paint some other characters. Liara was the one most requested, so I went ahead and did it. Trying too get a scale - like texture on her skin was a bit of a challenge, though overall I'm happy with how it turned out.
I'd also like to say thanks heaps to the people at Artgermination, who gave such good critique of this while I was working on it. If you're looking for a group to really help you improve yourself as an artist, I highly recommend it!
Overall time was about 10 hours, photoshop + intuos4 as usual Made the background from scratch, Lens flares from : [link]

The use of that somewhat monochromatic blue is really nice. It also gives the viewer a space vibe, which one would want considering it is the fan art of a game with a setting in space. The use of textures is also impressive and well executed. The whites of the eyes are a bit too bright, and this makes the eyes look huge or like they are glowing from the inside. They have a very cold look to them compared to that shy smile of her's. A bit more shading in the eyes would help fix the problem. There is also a definitive focal point which each portrait should have. All in all the piece is a success.
